If there ever was a time when funds for ministries came effortlessly and plentifully, that time is no more. Congregation leaders understand that times have changed, but busy ministry schedules leave little time for developing new strategies in today’s challenging fundraising environment.
Happily, a new tool was just released by Charity Channel Press. Fundraising for Churches: 12 Keys to Success Every Church Leader Should Know is a 113-page manual structured as a how-to guide with lots of adaptable tools like calendars, sample budgets and to-do lists. Each of the 12 keys ties to a chapter in the book, and the chapters are summarized in the first two pages of the book. Clearly, this resource was written with the busy ministry professional or volunteer in mind.
The information is up-to-date, reflecting an understanding of the current landscape for fundraising and what it means for churches. Topics include secrets of successful fundraising, making a compelling case, identifying strong leaders, and the spiritual side of fundraising, as well as traditional topics like the annual campaign, capital campaign and endowment funds. There is also a chapter about innovations in technology and electronic giving.
Authors Linda Wise McNay and Sarah B. Matthews are experienced non-profit fundraisers who have also worked closely with their own congregations and have distilled all their wisdom and experience into this congregation-friendly manual. This one tool could make all the difference for a finance, stewardship or fundraising team.
