The two small words under the homepage title are “seek” and “understand.” The site is simply called Patheos.com. What makes the site unique is its comprehensiveness. It strives to be in touch with most of the major religious traditions through a series of blogs, studies, book reviews, religious portals, news items, faith-tradition experts and features. There is also a book club and a newsletter. This website touts the idea of “balanced views of religion and spirituality.” There is even a special “comparison” link which sets the named teachings of various traditions side by side.
Patheos.com is a helpful tool for congregational groups wishing to find resources on specific contemporary subjects and for individuals interested in keeping up on religious news and special interests. Clergy may also find some good preaching materials.
But, I think the idea of the site is perhaps its most attractive feature. It’s a great contribution to the idea of respect for the various religious traditions which comprise our community experience. That’s something the Center for Congregations is committed to as well.
