Some of us remember Earth, Wind and Fire as a musical group, but these days it’s more likely to conjure up memories or fears of weather disasters. Just take a sample of news from any source on any day, and severe weather is likely to be featured in at least one story. And now we have a new term - superstorm - to describe the recent weather disaster named Sandy.
No community in the United States is immune to severe weather and the resulting danger to life and property. Like all community institutions, congregations should be prepared for events such as hurricanes, earthquakes, fires and tornadoes. Luckily there are several good resources available to help congregations with planning and response to natural disasters and severe weather.
